Success in 2006!!

The 2006 Baskets Against Brain Tumors was a great success! We raised $8,500.00! That makes this our best year yet.
Thanks to everyone who made Baskets so successful. It is great to see a whole community pulling together to achieve such an awesome total. With every dollar raised, we are one step closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease.

We've posted here a few slide shows from this year's event. "The Fun Stuff" includes pictures of our newest, very successful activities. The Dunk Tank was the big new attaction this year. Even though all the kids say they like him, the lines seemed longest when St. Jerome 5th Grade teacher Mr. Stevens was on board the dunk seat. Maybe he could give more homework next year and we'd REALLY make a bundle! Thanks to Mr. Stevens and ALL our tank victims for braving the chilly, shaded water.

The sumo wrestling was also a huge draw this year. Attempted by girls and boys alike, the hardest part was actually getting INTO the suits! We also have pictures of our yearly favorites. Sprinkles the Clown (thanks SO much Donna) painted faces (and backs) with her usual creative works of art. Neil McGlynn rocked with us as usual (see "The Volunteers"), the Moon bounce was blown up and we had our annual visitor from the Kixx team who signed autographs. And, of course, we ate and ate and ATE...

Within "The Butterflies" slideshow are pictures of two very special presentations made this year. First, Michelle Geiss helped plan a beautiful and touching butterfly release. Those pictures show the delight on everyone's face as the "little angels"flew off into sky. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Also shown are pictures of young Julia Marsico handing Ann the poem that was presented to this year's St. Jerome's communion class. The poem was written in memory of Connell, who would have been celebrating the sacrament with Julia and the rest of the second grade class this year.

Finally, hats off to our youngest fundraiser, Ten year old Patrick "Patch" Alminde who had his personal best year, raising funds with a Bowling Against Brain Tumors outing. With the help of his mom Claire, Patrick doubled his efforts raising over $2000.00 this year! Patch can be seen in the dunk tank in "The Kids" slideshow (he'll do ANYTHING to raise money!)

Thanks to all of the wonderful baskets and camps donated this year, we couldn't have done it without those!

A FABULOUS job by everyone. Thank you for another successful year.

Enjoy the Slideshows.
